A Modest Proposal

In his argumentative essay, Jonathan Swift proposed that the poor people of Ireland sell their one year old babies as food. He claimed that doing this would help the beggars because they would save money and make a profit from selling their baby, would be able to do other things to help the country, and be able to pay rent. He also said that it would make men value their wives more because of the profit.
